First Flock-Herd UPDATE

We recently completed accepting applications from young producers on October 1st, receiving nearly 30 applications from over 20 states across the U.S. We have now begun the review process, with a goal to start making awards right after the first of the year.

Program Overview: The First Flock-Herd Program matches young, aspiring producers with the resources needed to begin their agricultural pursuits. Through this program, we connect these individuals with local breeders willing to donate ewe lambs, mature ewes, bred ewes, doe kids, mature does, or bred does, setting a foundation for their future in breeding sheep and goats.

Brad Payne

Welcome Brad Payne, Our New Farm Team Lead at RSG!

We’re excited to introduce Brad Payne, who joins us at our Lebanon, Indiana headquarters as our Farm Team Lead.

With over 50 years of experience raising sheep, Brad brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. He has served as both President and Board member of the American Hampshire Association.

Brad grew up in Paris, Illinois, and was a standout member of the Joliet Junior College Livestock Judging Team under the guidance of the legendary Lee Denzer. He and Dr. Tad Thompson have a long history, having spent their youth showing and fitting sheep together.

Recently relocated from Missouri, Brad now calls Kirklin, Indiana home, where he lives with his wife, Anna, and their family.

We’re thrilled to have him on board and managing the farm operations at RSG!

ultrasound

Attention RSG Clients:

Please share your breeding results data with your Account Manager. In an effort to continue improving pregnancy rates, we need your ultrasound or blood testing data for your LAI and ET dates.

This information allows us to analyze the season’s results holistically across the nation. It helps us identify trends, evaluate the effects of weather and nutrition, and consider other variables that can contribute to the success of a breeding program.

Thank you for your collaboration!

Important Reminders

  • When scheduling to pick up recips or donors, we require a 48 hour notice and your premise ID.

  • Payments for all breeding services are due at time of service. Please do not leave a host site or RSG facility without making a payment.

  • To access your Genetics Inventory account, you must provide a credit card or ACH information to cover the monthly storage billing amount.

  • We ship frozen genetics on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s only to avoid shippers sitting over the weekends.
