Dr. Logan spent two weeks in Australia last month working with GENSTOCK breeding sheep in the Outback. GENSTOCK, along with other international companies, work closely with RSG to provide Veterinarians and Technicians to us during our peak breeding season. We try and return the favor during theirs.

During the first day following parturition we recommend feeding good quality grass alfalfa mixed hay and water. During the second day introduce a half ration of grain, and full ration of grain on the third day. Once entering the lactation phase total diet protein needs to be increased to 16% protein and 3 – 5% fat.
Also increase higher calorie grains and carbohydrates such as corn. Within the first 30 days of lactation peak milk production will be reached.
Within the first week of lactation, we like to see the hay switched over to a high alfalfa based forage.
