RSG Tubs and Pails
RSG offers two types of supplemental tub and pail products. The Repro Booster includes the RSG nutrient pack, specifically designed to improve reproductive results. We recommend to start feeding this supplement 60 to 90 days before breeding and to continue use for 30 days after breeding. The Repro Booster is available in all tub sizes and in a 20-pound pail. The Sustainer tubs and pails can be used for times outside of breeding season to help sheep and goats maintain body condition, and when feedstuffs are limited, additional nutrients may be required.
SHIPPING AND PICKUPS
The RSG 20-pound pails can be purchased here online and shipped to your location. All other pails can be purchased online and scheduled for pick up at RSG’s Lebanon, Indiana, or Ballinger, Texas breeding centers. If ordering large quantities, please contact our office to discuss pick-up or freight delivery options at 765-978-0301.
WINTER AND SUMMER FORMULATION
RSG tubs are specifically designed to be easily consumed in extreme weather conditions. In hot climates, select the SUMMER tubs. They remain firmer while the WINTER tubs are made to be more palatable in colder conditions.
BIODEGRADABLE TUBS
RSG offers a 125-pound biodegradable tub in both WINTER and SUMMER formulations in the Repro Booster and Sustainer options. These tubs will completely degrade as the animals consume the supplement. It is safe for the animals to eat. We do not recommend these tubs for goats, as they tend to eat the outer tub before consuming the supplement in some cases.
FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS
Consumption will vary depending upon the condition of the animals, quality and quantity of forages being fed, weather conditions, and most importantly, the feeding location of the tubs with respect to loafing, grazing, feeding, and watering areas.
Sheep and goats will consume approximately 2 to 4 ounces per head daily. Tubs should be distributed at the rate of one 125-pound tub per 30-40 head of sheep and goats. Place the tubs where animals congregate (loafing, grazing, feeding, and watering areas). Feed the tubs continuously along with plentiful sources of forage and clean, fresh water. Provide free-choice mineral at all times.
The 20-pound pails are ideal for smaller animal groups on pasture or in individual pens.
INTRODUCTION PERIOD
During the first week of use, place the tubs approximately 100 feet from loafing and/or watering areas. As livestock become acclimated to the presence of the tubs, repositioning may be necessary to achieve proper consumption. Move tubs closer to increase, further away to decrease consumption. If overconsumption occurs for more than two weeks and repositioning does not correct the situation, remove tubs and evaluate the overall feeding program.
